A general election is when we vote for the people and parties who represent us in Parliament and form a government. Voting is one of the few times when every person's voice carries equal weight.

There has been a law change this year. In previous elections, people could enrol to vote right up until Election Day.
This time, enrolments and updates to enrolment details close at: midnight on 25 October 2026.
When to check and update your enrolment details
Check your enrolment details if you have:
- moved house
- changed your name
- turned 18, or
- are unsure whether your details are current.
