As a member, your voice helps shape our decisions, and drive meaningful change for disabled people in our communities.

About DPA

Individual membership is for people who would like to join DPA as a member. There is no cost to join.

Are you a full or an associate member?

In the membership application form, we will ask you if you're a full or associate member.

  • a Full individual member is a person who has a disability or is impaired.
  • an Associate individual member is a person who doesn't have a disability or an impairment.

The membership process

  1. Fill out the membership form either online or email the Word version to us.
  2. You will receive an email to say we've received your application.
  3. The National Executive Committee (NEC) will consider your application. This is scheduled every three months.
  4. We will email you to confirm your membership.

Benefits of becoming a member

As a DPA member you will join with others who are committed to advocating for the rights of disabled people.

You will be invited to:

  • join DPA members only events, including Members' Hui, Special General Meetings, and Annual General Meetings
  • nominate and vote for members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), annually if you are a full member
  • have input into the Constitution and other key DPA documents, such as the strategy and policy statements as they're updated.

Full members are able to vote at meetings, nominate members for the NEC, and become a member of the NEC if you've been a member for more than 6 months.

Associate members can come to meetings and join in the discussion, and are not able to vote, nominate members, or become a member of the NEC.

Once you're registered as a member, you can create an account to the member hub. The member hub is a place where you can find find out about membership opportunities.
