As a member, your voice helps shape our decisions, and drive meaningful change for disabled people in our communities.
About DPAIndividual membership is for people who would like to join DPA as a member. There is no cost to join.

In the membership application form, we will ask you if you're a full or associate member.
- a Full individual member is a person who has a disability or is impaired.
- an Associate individual member is a person who doesn't have a disability or an impairment.
The membership process
- Fill out the membership form either online or email the Word version to us.
- You will receive an email to say we've received your application.
- The National Executive Committee (NEC) will consider your application. This is scheduled every three months.
- We will email you to confirm your membership.

Benefits of becoming a member
As a DPA member you will join with others who are committed to advocating for the rights of disabled people.
You will be invited to:
- join DPA members only events, including Members' Hui, Special General Meetings, and Annual General Meetings
- nominate and vote for members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), annually if you are a full member
- have input into the Constitution and other key DPA documents, such as the strategy and policy statements as they're updated.
Full members are able to vote at meetings, nominate members for the NEC, and become a member of the NEC if you've been a member for more than 6 months.
Associate members can come to meetings and join in the discussion, and are not able to vote, nominate members, or become a member of the NEC.

Once you're registered as a member, you can create an account to the member hub. The member hub is a place where you can find find out about membership opportunities.
We welcome families to become members of DPA. Membership is free for families.

Full family membership
Your family can join as a full family member when a member of your family has an impairment and is under the age of 18 years.
A family needs to nominate one of their members as the contact and to speak or vote on the family's behalf.
Associate family membership
A family can join as an associate family if they have an interest in disability issues, with no disabled family members.
A family needs to nominate one of their members to be their contact and speak on their behalf. There are no voting rights for our associate members.

We welcome disability-related organisations to become members of DPA. There is an annual subscription fee for members.

Full organisation membership
Full organisation members are either:
- organisations of disabled people run and led by disabled people, or
- disabled people's organisations
Full organisation members have the right to nominate one representative to speak and vote in DPA activities.
Associate organisation membership
Organisations that are associate members are run for disabled people, such as service providers.
Associate members, have the right to speak at DPA activities, however, cannot vote.
The membership process
- Fill out the membership form either online or email us for the Word version at members@dpa.org.nz
- You will receive an email to say we've received your application, and a request to meet with one or more DPA representatives to find out about your organisation and the areas we have in common.
- A recommendation will be made to the NEC on membership status.
- The National Executive Committee (NEC) will consider your application at their next monthly meeting.
- We will email you to confirm your membership and send you an invoice so you can deposit your subscription.

As an organisation, you will be invited to:
- meet with us regularly to talk about our mutual work advocating for the rights of disabled people and identify ways we can collectively work together
- join DPA members only events, including Members' Hui, Special General Meetings, and Annual General Meetings
- nominate and vote on members to the National Executive Committee, annually
- have input into the Constitution and other key DPA documents, such as the strategy and policy statements as they're updated.
Organisation full members have a contact person. The contact person is able to vote at meetings, nominate members for the NEC, and become a member of the NEC if you've been a member for more than 6 months.
Organisation associate members can join in the discussion, and are not able to vote, nominate members, or become a member of the NEC.
Membership fees for organisation members
Membership subscriptions for organisations are:
- Up to 25 members or clients – $40
- From 26-100 members or clients – $80
- From 101-200 members or clients – $120
- More than 201 members or clients –$150
