Purpose

To provide feedback on the Christchurch City Council’s proposal to upgrade Corson Avenue.

DPA supported the proposals outlined in the upgrade proposal.

 

Recommendations:

 

1. DPA recommends that when footpaths are smoothed over that any holes are removed.

2. DPA recommends that footpaths are of sufficient width to enable pedestrians, including disabled pedestrians using mobility aids and wheelchairs, the ability to navigate around them easily. 

3. DPA recommends that cambers are smoothed out to enable better accessibility particularly for wheelchair and mobility aid users, older people, and people pushing children’s strollers.

4. DPA asks that pedestrian crossings are raised to enable people crossing them to be easily seen by motorists.

5. DPA recommends that if the width of Corson Avenue is reduced, that there is sufficient space for navigable
