Purpose

This submission aims to provide feedback to the Hamilton City Council on the upgrades to the Caenarvon, Swarbrick, and Ranfurly Playgrounds. DPA's goal is to ensure that all children, including disabled children, have access to inclusive and accessible play areas, incorporating features like accessible equipment, pathways, sensory elements, and essential facilities based on feedback from Hamilton-based members.

Summary of DPA submission

DPA welcomes the opportunity to give feedback to the Hamilton City Council on the Caenarvon, Swarbrick, and Ranfurly Playgrounds upgrades. DPA supports the principle that all children should have access to inclusive play areas, including disabled tamariki/children. The comments in the submission are general and apply to all playgrounds being consulted upon, incorporating feedback from Hamilton-based members.

DPA recommends that all playground equipment is diverse, inclusive and accessible for everyone, including disabled children.
